The opposition National Democratic Congress has said “we are not going to rely on the NPP police” in the 2024 general elections.

A constituency General Secretary of Awutu Senya East, Amadu Tuariq has said.

According to him, leaving their fate in the police for the general polls would be a doom for them since the service has been infiltrated with party boys.

He says the NPP used COVID as an excuse to deploy party boys under the guise of national security to intimidate people and in 2024, there is no pandemic for them to capitalise on “and even of there is COVID, we’ll bury COVID before the elections.”

Mr. Tuariq recounting incidents from previous elections said the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election and election 2020 are lessons enough for them to know the NPP government will stop at nothing than to infiltrate the secuirty services with party boys to mar the polls at the disadvantage of the NDC.

He adds that the court is also not an option since justice was not dispensed for the party at the last polls.

“In 2020 the NPP flooded the entire process from registration to voting with the military under the guise of COVID. This time around, there is no COVID and even if there is, we’ll come fully prepared security wise. We are not going to rely on NPP police.

“In 2020, they made us understand that it was national security but we later realised that it was NPP boys. The same boys they used at Ayawaso West Wuogon to shoot people. It was party boys they recruited into the national security. What came out from the Techiman South incident? And we won’t rely on the court too. The elections would be declared at the polling station,” he emphasised.
