The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has arrested former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, Maxwell Kofi Jumah.
3News sources say he was apprehended by officials on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 and currently in the agency’s custody.
The arrest follows a raid on his Kumasi residence last week, Tuesday, April 14.
The raid was confirmed by the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, Paul Yandoh who said the officers presented documents indicating they had authorisation to search the premises.
It is believed that the arrest forms part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial improprieties.
Investigators are said to be probing suspected breaches of public financial management protocols during Jumah’s tenure at GIHOC, with particular focus on how certain official resources were administered.
Further details of this case are expected to come to light as investigations continue.
EOCO is yet to officially comment on the matter.
