The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has hinted of a march to the premises of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) today, Monday, July 13, 2026, following the arrest of its member, Dennis Miracles Aboagye.

This is to demand explanation over Aboagye’s arrest, the party saying the circumstances leading to the arrest raises concerns about the treatment of opposition figures and the application of due process.

According to the party, although Mr. Aboagye had allegedly not been invited by any of the security agencies in the country, he was apprehended at the Accra International Airport by officials of EOCO with the support of the Ghana Immigration Service.

Despite its optimum support for lawful investigations and accountability, the NPP says state institutions must adhere to established legal procedures when dealing with individuals, irrespective of their political affiliation.

National Organiser of the party, Henry Nana Boakye, has indicated that Aboagye has not been informed of any alleged offence or invited by EOCO before his arrest, indicating the arrest is aimed at intimidating members of the opposition.

“Miracles has not received any invitation from EOCO. He has not been informed of any wrongdoing. He has not been told that he is under any form of investigation,” Nana Boakye said on Channel One TV on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

He added that the NPP would cooperate with any legitimate investigation involving its members but insisted that due process must always be respected and that law enforcement agencies should not be used to harass political opponents.
