2028 campaign Director for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, may spend another night in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
His lawyers are still working around the clock to enable him meet the GHC50 million bail condition set by the investigative body.
Earlier today, Tuesday, July 14, EOCO officials took Dennis Aboagye to one of his residences at Larteh to inspect the house, a standard bail execution procedure to help officials know him more and identify places they can locate him when the need arises after he has been released.
The update comes after Mr. Aboagye was granted bail on Monday, July 13 to the tune of GHC50 million with three sureties to be justified.
According to his legal team, the current focus is on complying with the court’s bail requirements rather than seeking a review or variation of the conditions.
The team disclosed to 3News that the process of satisfying the bail terms has already begun and remains its immediate priority.
“The processes toward satisfying the bail conditions have commenced. The legal team is actively working to secure his release as soon as possible,” sources said.
“At this stage, the focus is on meeting the bail conditions rather than pursuing any variation of them. Once the requirements have been fulfilled, we expect the release process to follow,” they added.
Dennis Miracles Aboagye was arrested by EOCO at the Accra International Airport.
According to EOCO, the arrest is linked to alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities involving about GH¢55 million during his tenure as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD).
He was arrested alongside the Secretariat’s former accountant, Gerald Appiah, as part of ongoing investigations into the alleged irregularities.
