The five-time Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan in the Western region, Joe Ghartey, has given his blessings to Charles Bissue, the NPP parliamentary candidate for the constituency and has handed over the party leadership in the constituency to him.

After serving constituents of Essikado-Ketan for 20 years, Joe Ghartey expressed gratitude to them for their unwavering support and urged them to extend the same support to Bissue.

With just six days left before the December 7 elections, NPP members in the constituency, together with their parliamentary candidate, Charles Bissue, came together to express gratitude to God for His unwavering support and protection throughout the year. They also offered prayers for a peaceful election.

The NPP faithful and sympathizers converged at Diabene Park, filled with a spirit of thanksgiving, praising and worshiping God for His boundless mercies and grace throughout the years. With hearts overflowing with gratitude, they thanked God for the precious gift of life.

He explained that the thanksgiving service, held just before the elections, was a way to express gratitude to God for His blessings and protection.

“Prior to our primaries, I did the same thanksgiving, and it was just seven days before the election. We’re doing the same this time. For me, I believe that whether things are good or bad, we need to give thanks to our Creator,” Joe Ghartey said.

He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the constituents for their unwavering support since 2004, electing him to represent them in parliament in every election year.

He acknowledged that, although he has accomplished a great deal for the constituency, his replacement, Charles Bissue, is poised to achieve even greater things. Ghartey urged the constituents to rally behind Bissue and cast their votes for him in the upcoming elections.

“What I urge you is to extend the same love and support you’ve shown me to Charles Bissue. Let us pray that he achieves even greater things than I did. As the song by Israelites goes, ‘Saul has killed his thousands, and David his ten thousands.

“Similarly, I, Joe Ghartey, have done my part, but I believe Charles Bissue will achieve even more. May God bless him as he embarks on this new chapter in his life,” he noted.

On his part, Charles Bissue, the NPP parliamentary candidate, is confident of winning the Essikado-Ketan seat. He cited the party’s transformative agenda and his determination to protect the legacy of former MP Joe Ghartey.

The constituency is a crucial battleground, with the NPP seeking to retain the seat.

“I’m confident of victory in the December 7 elections, thanks to Joe Ghartey’s support. I believe we can drive more development in our constituency. This election is crucial for protecting the free senior high school policy, which has bridged the gap between the rich and poor by providing equal access to quality education. Let’s safeguard our children’s future by voting to protect this policy,” Bissue stated.
