Policy analyst and businessman, Senyo Kwasi Hosi, has called out the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the disputed constituencies in Saturday’s elections, asking “why are they misbehaving?”

He says the ongoing re-collation of the results in some constituencies is not legal since it is not contained in the Constitutional Instrument (C.I.) guiding the conduct of elections in Ghana.

According to Mr. Hosi, the best the NPP can do would be to go to court if they feel they have been treated unfairly.

He indicated that it is unfortunate that he had to call out the NPP but the best they can do would be to go back and regroup for a stronger contest in 2028.

“Unfortunately let me call out the NPP on this matter. Why are they misbehaving? If you feel you’ve been unfairly treated, please go to court,” he stated whilst speaking on the extended coverage of Ghana Decides 2024 on TV3 Friday, December 13, 2024.

He questioned why the NPP has controlled the judiciary over the years by way of appointment of judges into the courts as well as appointment of officers to the Electoral Commission but appears not to trust the processes.

The businessman insisted the re-collation of results is wrong since it is not backed by law.

“If you yourself you have controlled the judicial process by way of appointment than anybody in recent time cannot trust the judicial system, who do you expect someone to trust the judicial system?

“[As] the government of the day, they supervised the entire system. They appointed Jean Mensa, they supervised the C.I. process, they have supervised the operation of our judiciary and the laws are clear. Why are we beating about the bush? Why are we trying to re-collate when there is no provision in the C.I. for re-collation?” he questioned.

He called on the legal luminaries in the NPP, including the Attorney-General, to provide to Ghanaians, the portion of the constitution that gives room to anything called re-collation, if any, for peace to reign.

“If there is a provision in the C.I. for re-collation, I want one of the NPP people or the Attorney-General, to come and read it to the whole country so we’ll just have some peace and move on,” he stated.

“Everybody knows who has won and who has lost. Because everyone of them have a copy of the pink sheets. Everybody has access to excel. All of them also had access to alternate software.

“Every single pink sheet, the real pink sheet, if they are honourable people, everybody has it so they know who has lost and who has won. So why are you going round the bush and just trying to create chaos simply because you want to recover and deprive the NDC of the two-third majority,” he added.
