Mark Kwadjo Gyemerah-Boateng is accusing the school’s senior house mistress and the school authorities of denying Beatrice Akua Gyamerah-Boateng, a Home Economics Students the right to seek urgent medical care after she had complained of a serious headache.

Family members, colleague students and sympathizers could not hold their tears when the 15-year-old girl was laid to rest at Akyem Awaham on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

Beatrice Akua Boateng passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2025, at St Dominic’s Hospital in Akyem Akwatia in the Denkyembour District. She allegedly stayed in the school until her health deteriorated and collapsed on the fourth day before being rushed to the hospital where she gave-up the ghost.

Mr. Gyamerah Boateng, speaking in an interview with Onua news during the burial of her daughter fret over the alleged negligence of the school and threatened to seek redress in a law court.

“I believe that my daughter died because of their negligence; so, I am going to summon the school’s administration to come and answer. I need to report the case to the police, get the extract and copy all the educational institutes, Ghana Education Service (GES) and the educational minister,” he cried.

He has promised to get justice for her daughter and ensure that the situation where school authorities bully and deny students of their right to seek medical care when they fall sick in school comes to an end in the country.

He appealed to GES and the sector minister to pursue the matter, ensuring no student experiences the heinous treatment his daughter had gone through.

When contacted the school via telephone, a teacher, Madam Victoria Abban, who was at the funeral said, “it’s not true. It’s never true that it was as a result of negligence.”
