FC Samartex 1996 have confirmed participation in next season’s CAF Champions League as Ghana’s representatives.
The Samreboi-based side annexed the Ghana Premier League with two games to spare after pipping Bibiani Gold Stars on Sunday, June 2 in a Matchday 32 clash.
Speaking on the feat on Agoro Fie on Onua TV on Monday, June 3, Brands and Business Development Manager of the club Paul Kwesi Ayamba said it has been long in coming.
He, in addition, confirmed that FC Samartex will participate in the CAF Champions League.
“Oh yeah, we will go to Africa,” he said.
“You should know when you win the [Ghana Premier] League, you have to represent the country in Africa,” he told host Isaac Ansah Apagya.
Asked whether matches in the campaign will be hosted at the Nsenkyire Sports Stadium in Samreboi, Mr Kwesi Ayamba confessed that there are “deficits” that could hinder that because some of their facilities like hotels in the town do not meet standards.
The Brands Manager said even the closest town with higher hotel stars, Asankragwa, may not be able to host a side like Al Ahly of Egypt.
But he is confident that in the coming years, such facilities will be put up in order to host all continental matches at home.
FC Samartex will play Karela United in their next domestic match before wrapping up a successful season at home with a match against Accra Lions on Sunday, June 16.
