Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani Goldstars SC have a tall order making it out of the preliminary round of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League after a 2-0 defeat at home to Algeria’s JS Kabylie.

It was the very first game for the Miners as they make a foray into Africa.

However, a goal in each half of their encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium saw them slump to defeat.

Mehdi Merghem began the onslaught in the 20th minute for the two-time African champions as he found the back of the net to burst the bubble of the Ghanaians.

The Yellows, therefore, went into the break with the slim lead.

With 20 minutes to end the game, Senegalese Babacar Sarr doubled the lead to put the game beyond Goldstars.

The second leg is scheduled for Friday, September 26 at the Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou.

The winner after the two legs will face either Sierra Leone’s East End Lions or Tunisia’s US Monastir.
