The Federation of Ghana Medical Students’ Associations (FGMSA) and affected graduating medical and dental students have taken legal action against the Medical and Dental Council (MDC), seeking to halt the implementation of the Common Registration Examination (CRE).

In a press statement dated October 20, 2026, FGMSA disclosed that the suit had been filed at the High Court of Justice, Human Rights Division, in Accra.

The plaintiffs are seeking an injunction to restrain the MDC from conducting the examination pending the determination of the substantive legal issues before the court.

According to the Federation, the legal action challenges the implementation of the Common Registration Examination and seeks to have the issues surrounding its introduction resolved through the judicial process before the examination proceeds.

The suit follows unsuccessful attempts to address the concerns through engagements with the relevant authorities, the statement indicated.

FGMSA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the interests of medical and dental students, stating that it would pursue the legal process to its conclusion.

The case brings the proposed examination under judicial scrutiny as the affected students and the Federation seek legal intervention over its implementation.

The Federation has assured stakeholders that further updates on the case will be communicated through its official channels.

The statement was issued by the National Executive Council of the Federation of Ghana Medical Students’ Associations.
