A 2-0 away win by Comoros over Chad has sent them top of Group I in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Second-half goals by Myziane Maolida and El Fardou Ben were enough to secure all three points for the Coelacanths.

The win sees them reclaim top spot from Ghana, who won both qualifiers in June to lift hopes of qualifying for their fifth World Cup.

The Islanders have become the challengers, currently on nine points, same as Ghana.

In the other game played on Tuesday, June 11, 10-man Madagascar held Mali to a goalless draw at home.

The Barea would have gone level with the Black Stars had they won over the Eagles.

The next round of matches are scheduled for March, 2025.
