A driver of a sprinter mini bus that got involved in an accident on the Mankessim – Apam highway has been rescued by officers of the Ghana National Fire Service.

A report filed by the Service sourced an eyewitness attributing the accident to a wrongful overtaking by the sprinter mino bus which was heading towards Accra from Cape Coast.

A TRAPPED DRIVER RESCUED AT MANKESSIM

Rescuers from the Mankessim Fire Station responded to the distress accident call at 0754hrs at Anokyi on the Mankessim – Apam Road.

Upon arrival at the accident scene, it was realised that the accident involved a Sprinter mini bus with registration number GW 9794-19 and a Mercedes car with registration number CR 1791-22 with the driver of the Sprinter bus trapped in the vehicle.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident was caused by wrongful overtaking by the Sprinter mini bus which was travelling from Cape Coast towards Accra.

Fortunately, the thirteen (13) passengers (5 male and 8 female) were rescued before the arrival of the crew, but the trapped driver had to be extricated and rescued by the Rescuers and was handed over to the Ghana Ambulance Service.

The victims were sent to the Saltpond Government Hospital for treatment.
