A fire broke out in the dawn of Friday, September 19, 2025 at the Madina market, destroying several items and properties.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service, it received a call at 01:36 am on Friday about a fire outbreak at the entrance of the Madina market. The GNFS quickly dispatched a team from the Madina station to attend to the situation.

The GNFS said the first crew arrived within 2 minutes after the call, upon releasing that the fire had spread, four other fire engines were dispatched to assist in extinguishing the fire.
The fire affected wooden structures, 2 corn milling shops, several metal containers, cooking utensils, a cold store and some foodstuffs.
Providing update on the incident, GNFS said the fire was confined at 03:07 am and brought under control at 03:19 am, after which it was fully extinguished at 04:40 am.

GNFS noted that through its swift action, firefighters salvaged one-storey warehouse and adjoining structures from catching fire. No casualties were recorded and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
