Former Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko mercurial dribbler Emmanuel Yartey is reported dead.

The sad news was confirmed on Wednesday, November 29 by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Dr Panie, as he was popularly called during the peak of his professional career, has battled a long illness for the past years.

Photos of him that popped up on the internet in 2017 caused a stir.

He was said to be battling a mental illness.

Emmanuel Yartey was a member of the Black Starlets squad that played at the Africa U-17 Championship in Botswana in 1997.

He played for Okwawu United and Asante Kotoko before moving to Hearts of Oak, where he won the CAF Champions League in 2000 and the Super Cup in 2001.
