Former Minister of Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif has been asked by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, to make himself available for questioning by officials of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), formerly BNI.
He is to meet the officials on Monday, April 7.
This comes following a request by the state intelligence organisation on Tuesday, March 25 for the Yagaba Kubori Member of Parliament (MP) and his colleague for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A’Plus, to be available for interrogation.
It is unclear what the interrogation will be about though speculations are rife it has to do with the recent scandal at the National Service Secretariat, for the former Sports Minister, and the shooting of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale, for A’Plus.
The immediate past Youth and Sports Minister was the Director General of the National Service Authority (NSA) in the first term of the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government.
The Right Honourable Speaker, in a letter written on his behalf by the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, said the two MPs must be available at the Sir Emmanuel Charles Quist Conference Room at 10:00am on Monday.
“The Hon. Members will be requested to have their lawyers present at the interaction,” the letter dated Wednesday, April 2 said.
The “interaction” is expected to also touch on expenditure during the 2023 African Games held in Accra in March, 2024.
There were reports of financial misappropriation which saw the country spend excessively on the multi-sport event.
