Franklin Cudjoe, founder and President of the IMANI Centre for Policy and Education, has said he does not “waste endorsements” as a “reality-based thinker.”
His comments stem from his endorsement of former U.S. President, Donald John Trump, whom he said was going to win the elections based on the state of affairs in the United States.
He says he was chastised after making some projections in favour of Trump, with people calling him names and asking him to concentrate on Ghanaian elections.
“Some Ghanaians including those who live in America even talk down at some of us who live in Ghana dismissing our apparent ‘ignorance’ of American politics and mostly told to shut up and focus on politics in Ghana,” he stated, adding that his comments on the U.S. elections were based on his deductions from what he observed CNN, the Economist magazine and the Financial Times.
Following the outcome of the polls which is projecting victory for Trump, Franklin Cudjoe, in a post on his Facebook is asking those wielding power in Ghana to take a cue from what has happened in the U.S.
According to him, Ghanaians will not forgive any incumbent for taking the people granting and sinking them into economic hardship due to bad policies and mismanagement.
In his post, the IMANI President listed some of the many ‘sins’ of the NPP government, saying not even a “miracle app can change this badge of economic dishonour” for the ruling party.
“Note to Ghanaian incumbents- lf you mess up the economy through wasteful and thieving projects and programs, like 1 village-1 dam, supervise a 54% inflation, nearly 40% interest rates, free falling exchange rate [ $1=17.4], pickpocket savings of even the vulnerable, borrow us into a debt iceberg of GHC761bn, that is GHC 641 bn more than all governments since 1957, pummel nearly 1 million Ghanaians into deeper poverty, and precociously disenfranchise defenseless citizens like SALL using judicial and legal plunderers, nothing short of a miracle app can change this badge of economic dishonour even if you resuscitate an impotent ‘Solid Team’ of damaging economists’. I, Franklin Cudjoe, like many reality-based thinkers, do not waste endorsements,” portions of his post contained.
