At Kalabule Chinese, a suburb near the Kasoa Tollbooth in the Ga South municipality of the Greater Accra region, a 26-year-old fashion designer, Mabel Asantewaa, has died from an alleged stabbing by her boyfriend.
The suspect, identified as Bra Sammy, a 28-year-old carpenter, reportedly spent the night with his girlfriend, after which he stabbed her multiple times.
He has been arrested by the Weija Divisional Police Command and is currently in custody.
According to police report, the suspect, Sammy, allegedly demanded sexual intercourse from his girlfriend, who declined, citing her menstruation.
The boyfriend, unhappy with her response, became violent after a brief argument and allegedly stabbed her multiple times, leading to her death.
After the act, the suspect is said to have ingested a poisonous substance in an apparent suicide attempt. He is currently receiving treatment under police guard at the Ngleshie Amanfro Polyclinic.
Meanwhile, the deceased has been taken to the police morgue for autopsy and further investigation.
