The Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) is among six member federations of World Athletics nominated for the 2024 World Athletics Awards.
Ghana and the five other member federations will compete for the 2024 Member Federations Award.
The Member Federations Award recognises a member federation that has distinguished itself in its accomplishments throughout the year and, as a result, positively contributed to the growth and profile of athletics.
The shortlisted federations were nominated by each of the six area associations – Africa, Asia, South America, Oceania, Europe and North America.
GAA was nominated by the African region after a successful hosting of the 2023 African Games in Accra.
With the development of world-class tracks and swimming facilities, Ghana is set to host the 2026 African Athletics Championships.
The federations that will compete against the GAA for the award are India’s Athletics Federation of India, Paraguay’s Federacion Paraguaya de Atletismo, Portugal’s Federacao Portuguesa de Atletismo, Solomon Islands’ Athletic Solomons and USA’s USA Track & Field.
The awards ceremony will be held in Monaco on Sunday, December 1.
