Founder of the defunct UT Bank, Prince Kofi Amoabeng, has called on Ghanaians to reflect on their responsibility to build a stronger nation for future generations as the country celebrates its 69th Independence Day.

In a message shared on social media, Amoabeng said the true meaning of independence goes beyond commemorating the historic moment when Ghana gained freedom from colonial rule in 1957.

According to him, independence should also remind citizens of their duty to create a nation worthy of the sacrifices made by the country’s forefathers.

“When I look into the eyes of our children, I see the true meaning of independence. It is not only about the freedom our forefathers fought for in 1957, it is about the responsibility we carry today to build a nation worthy of their sacrifice,” he wrote.

The business leader emphasised that the future of Ghana lies in the values instilled in the younger generation, urging citizens to raise children who believe in integrity, discipline, service and patriotism.

Amoabeng further noted that independence must not only be celebrated annually but also protected and strengthened through the daily actions of citizens.

“For the sake of these young ones, we must continue to build the Ghana we all dream of,” he added.

His message was shared under the banner of the PK Amoabeng Leadership Foundation, accompanied by hashtags promoting leadership and mindset transformation.
