Police are on manhunt for the suspect who stabbed an officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at Adjiringano on Friday, November 14, 2025 and absconded.
This was during the officers’ efforts to contain a fire that ravaged an eight-room one-storey building near the Ability Square at Adjiringano, where two firefighters got injured in the process.
During the officers’ attempt to quench the fire, the suspect wanted to enter the burning building to loot, but was prevented by the fireman. The suspect then stabbed the officer and absconded.
The GNFS has announced a reward for anyone that will help identify or locate the suspect who attacked the officer.
According to the GNFS, the fire call was received at 9:32 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025.
The first appliance from the Legon Fire Station arrived at the scene at 10:03 p.m., with reinforcements from the Madina, National Headquarters, and Adenta Fire Stations, as well as support from a private water tanker. The combined efforts ensured a stable water supply to battle the blaze.
Firefighters brought the fire under control at 12:16 a.m. and fully extinguished it by 1:08 a.m.
Seven out of eight rooms on the top floor were destroyed, but one room was salvaged.
The fire crew also prevented the flames from spreading to the ground-floor rooms and neighbouring structures.
Two firefighters sustained injuries, one from a stab wound to the left arm inflicted by the suspect, and another from a falling block that hit his left shoulder. Both were treated and discharged from Unity Clinic in Madina.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
