Bibiani Gold Stars SC have jumped to the top spot of the Ghana Premier League after a 1-0 win over Basake Holy Stars on Wednesday, March 19.
The Matchday 20 game was one of eight outstanding games played midweek.
The games were suspended as a result of the death of Asante Kotoko fan Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley, who was buried on Thursday, March 6
With Gold Stars trailing Asante Kotoko on the table prior to the midweek games, they went all out at the Ampain Sports Arena.
Basake Holy Stars had sat out in the Matchday 24 games as a result of the withdrawal of their opponents Nsoatreman FC.
After a goalless first half, Michael Nkoah struck in the 69th minute to give the Miners all the three points.
The win takes Gold Stars SC to 40 points, one more than Asante Kotoko, who were held to a goalless draw by Young Apostles.
Gold Stars SC will go back to Bibiani to host Hearts of Oak at the Bibiani DUN’s Park in their next game.
