Kotoko fan stabbed to death in fight after Nsoatreman game

The incident, which occurred near the Prof Amoah Koramansah II Park in Nsoatre, followed a highly-tensed game, which ended 1-0 in favour of Nsoatreman FC.

The game itself saw three players – Justice Blay and Mohammed Camara of Kotoko and Stephen Diyou of Nsoatreman – red-carded.

The tragic incident forced Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, Ghana’s most decorated clubs, to champion calls for reforms to avoid a future occurrence.

As a result, enhanced security measures have been put in place ahead of the resumption of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League, which was suspended immediately after the incident.

It is set to resume on Saturday, March 8.

Among other dignitaries present at the funeral were Asante Kotoko Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awuah, former Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu, and a host of others.

Supporters from far and near also trooped to the venue to pay their last respect.
