Asante Kotoko lost 1-0 to Nsoatreman FC in Week 19 of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.

Sunday’s match was marred by a second-half brawl that led to the dismissal of three players – Justice Blay and Mohammed Camara of Kotoko and Stephen Diyou of Nsoatreman.

The highly-tensed match at the Nana Koramansah Park saw no goals in the first half.

This brought a lot of pressure on the home side, who needed a win to lift hopes of beating relegation this season.

Already, pressure has been mounted on coach Yaw Preko to leave due to the relatively poor run in this year’s League.

The Porcupine Warriors, on the other hand, were seeking to avoid defeat in order to hold on to the lead at the summit of the table.

Tempers flared up as the players were embroiled in on-pitch fracas while supporters also threw missiles onto the pitch. Some even invaded the pitch to attach the away players.

The security were able to restore calm for the match to restart after a temporary hold-up.

Barely a minute of coming on after play resumed, Gabriel Bonnah broke the deadlock to give his side what became the eventual winner.

The win, however, sees Nsoatreman FC still remain 14th on the log with 21 points while Asante Kotoko are joint-top with 34 points, same as Bibiani Gold Stars, who drew goalless against champions FC Samartex.
