The revered Golden Stool of the Ashantis was on display at Dwabrem, Manhyia Palace, at the Akwasidaekese Festival, signifying a historic and momentous occasion.

On Sunday, May 12, the air in Kumasi was heavy with reverence and anticipation as the city not only celebrated the sacred Akwasidaekese but also the coronation of the 25th anniversary of His Majesty, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The most treasured possession ìn the Kingdom, the Golden Stool, is kept in a hallowed location and is only displayed on special occasions like Sunday’s.

At the grand durbar, the Asantehene celebrated his 25th anniversary with the outdoor display of the Golden Stool, the highest and most revered seat in the Ashanti Kingdom.

The Stool, believed to have been conjured from the heavens by the revered Okomfo Anokye, was part of the full traditional procession of the Asantehene at the event.
