The two, also pledged to approach the discussions with open hearts and minds, committed to finding lasting solutions that reflect their shared values and aspirations.

History of two kingdoms

The two kingdoms have a rich history of peaceful coexistence which dates back to the 17th Century when the founder of the Gonja kingdom Ndewura Jakpa on his expedition from Mande met one of the overlords of Mamprugu who was then aged but full of wisdom.

Their relationship was that of peace, respect and friendliness.

The two have also intermarried and have lived in peace and harmony until their recent clash over land boundaries at Lukula and Mempeasem.
