John Dramani Mahama has told Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), that governance is not about speaking grammar.

The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says Dr. Bawumia was giving lectures upon lectures at the Central University at the time the NPP was in opposition.

However, after attaining power and being handed the economy to lead as Head of the Economic Management Team, Dr. Bawumia has failed woefully and is no more talking about the economy.

Throwing a challenge to him at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church at Alogboshie in the Okaikoi North constituency Sunday, September 15, 2024, as part of his phase two tour of the Greater Accra region, John Mahama asked the Vice President to return to the Central University and account to Ghanaians on the fate of the cedi.

“That person who was brought to fix Ghana’s economy is no more talking about anything finance. He has stopped talking about the economy.

“I remember him visiting the Central University every month at the time doing lecture series and churning out English words. He thought governance was about speaking English.

“I plead with him to go back to the Central University to give us lecture on the economy because the University is still in existence. He should tell us why the Cedi has depreciated from GHC4.00 to GHC16.00,” he stated.

“We all need to be together to tell this government it is their time to leave after subjecting the nation into wickedness,” he added.

John Mahama chastised the clergy and chiefs who have been touting the Vice President for performing well and predicting victory for him in the upcoming polls.

“Meanwhile, you’ll see some chiefs touting him for doing good works and what have you, and you’ll see him being blessed and praised for doing good things with assurances of winning the polls when he visits churches. When he visits the shrine you’ll see them pouring libation to the gods and being told he has done well and will become victorious. Do you win again with such a futile government?” he quizzed.

He admonished people to call a spade a spade and stop massaging the issues because of the party in power.

“Hypocrisy is what is pulling this nation back. If we see the truth, if it’s black it’s black, if it’s white, it is white, it doesn’t matter who is in office, we must be truthful at all times,” he added.
