The Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, Seidu Issifu, has stated that Ghana is driving its climate goals forward through the National Energy Transition Framework, updated Renewable Energy Master Plan, and Nationally Determined Contributions.
According to the Minister, his Ministry is also leveraging on key international partnerships like the Just Energy Transition Partnership, the Vulnerable Twenty, and the Accelerated Partnership for Renewables in Africa.
He said this when he appeared before the Assurance Committee during its public hearing in Parliament on Thursday, July 9.
Issifu indicated that there is a strong focus on a “Just Energy Transition”, ensuring a gender-responsive planning, protection for vulnerable communities, local job creation, climate finance justice and fair participation in the green economy are central to the process.
He made it known to the Committee that Government is committed to making Ghana’s shift to a low-carbon future not only environmentally sustainable but also economically inclusive and socially equitable.
