The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has opened submissions for the 2026 edition of “December in GH”.

The GTA is by this inviting event producers, cultural innovators, and experience creators to contribute to what has become one of Africa’s most globally recognized festive seasons.

In a statement signed by the Director of Corporate Affairs at the GTA, and copied to Onua News Bright Kwasi Asempa Tsadidey, said the Authority announced that the 2026 edition will run from December 1, 2026, to January 3, 2027.

According to the statement, this year’s edition will go beyond a traditional calendar of events, evolving into a carefully curated cultural season that offers immersive, world-class experiences across every part of Ghana.

The statement explained that “December in GH” represents a major expression of the Black Star Experience, positioning Ghana as a destination where culture is not only observed but fully lived.

By blending music, film, fashion, cuisine, heritage, and contemporary creativity, the initiative is expected to deliver a multi-city cultural experience that reflects the country’s rich and evolving identity.

“Each year, Ghana transforms into a lively hub of global culture, attracting returning members of the diaspora, first-time visitors, investors, and cultural enthusiasts,” the statement said.

It added that the 2026 edition will place greater emphasis on regional participation, improved visitor experiences, and purposeful storytelling to ensure nationwide impact.

The Chief Executive Officer of the GTA, Maame Efua Houadjeto, noted that “December in GH” is more than a celebration, describing it as a movement that projects Ghana’s vibrant cultural identity to the world.

She stated that, as part of the Black Star Experience initiative, the upcoming season is expected to be the biggest yet, with innovative events designed to strengthen Ghana’s reputation as a leading destination for culture, entertainment, and heritage tourism.

For the 2026 edition, the Authority is calling for well-developed, experience-driven concepts that reflect the growth of Ghana’s tourism industry.

Priority will be given to proposals that demonstrate high production standards, cultural authenticity, strong audience engagement, and meaningful contributions to a unified national narrative.

Submissions close on Monday, July 13, 2026.
