Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has dismissed the idea that his team’s achievements are solely attributed to financial resources.

Pep Guardiola has refuted the notion that Manchester City’s dominance in the Premier League has made the competition uninteresting, asserting that their position at the top is not solely due to financial backing.

As City approach the final two games of the season, they are poised to make history by clinching their fourth consecutive title.

Guardiola acknowledges the challenges of achieving such a feat and emphasises that monetary resources alone cannot guarantee success.

Guardiola’s comments come amidst discussions about City’s remarkable performance this season, with many questioning the role of financial investment in their success.

However, Guardiola maintains that factors beyond money contribute to their achievements on the pitch.

“It’s not boring, It’s difficult, before it was the money. For that reason, Manchester United should have won all the titles, Chelsea all the titles, Arsenal all the titles. They spend as much money in the last five years as us. They should be there. They are not there.

“For that areas, on Girona shouldn’t be in the Champions League [next season] and Leicester should win the Premier League,” Guardiola retaliated.

A win against Tottenham on Tuesday would mean a win will be enough for Guardiola and his men to clinch the Premier League title for a fourth successive time when they face West Ham at the Etihad in the last game of the season on Saturday.

However, Guardiola says winning a fourth straight league title wasn’t on the cards for his team during the start of the season.

“In the beginning of the season we didn’t think about it,” he said.

“But then we were in February, March and April, we were still there. After that,at it ignites something in all our heads.

“No team has done it. That shows how hard it is. Liverpool in the ’80s, Sir Alex Ferguson’s United in the ’90s. Chelsea with [Roman] Abramovich and Jose [Mourinho], Arsenal with [Arsene] Wenger didn’t do it,” Guardiola added.

Manchester City have never scored a league goal at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, nonetheless, City are the overwhelming favourites to beat them and move one step closer to the Premier League title.
