Ghanaian champions Hasaacas Ladies FC have exited the WAFU Zone B Championship for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.

The Western Region side missed out on a chance to make the knock-out stage of the Championship, ongoing in La Cote d’Ivoire, despite picking a total of 4 points, just as Burkina Faso’s AO Etincelles in Group B.

The Burkinabes qualified together with Nigeria’s Edo Queens from the group after conceding less goals than the Ghanaians.

Hasaacas Ladies drew goalless with AO Etincelles in their first game but lost heavily by 3-0 to Queens.

They bounced back in the final group game against Niger’s AS Garde, winning by 6-1.

Among the goalscorers were Comfort Owusu and Grace Animah, who scored two each, and Fatoumata Tamboura and Abigail Sakyiwa.

The Burkinabe, in the other group game, lost by just a goal to the Nigerians, ensuring that both clubs make the next round.

Hasaacas Ladies had made a fine run in their first attempt, reaching the finals of the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League.

They will turn attention back to the 2024/25 Ghana Women’s Premier League to defend their title.
