Heart of Lions’ Head Coach Bashir Hayford has been handed a five-match ban by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The decision was communicated on Monday, a day after his side clinched a vital 1-0 win over Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
Kotoko suffer another loss in the GPL; beaten 1-0 at home by Heart of Lions
The sanction is, however, connected to the recent loss to Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.
Lions lost 1-0 in that Matchday 7 encounter but an altercation ensued after the game.
This saw the veteran coach verbally abuse match officials, who were on their way to the tunnel.
His behaviour was, thus, described as “unsporting” towards the officials.
In addition to the ban, Bashir Hayford was fined GH¢5,000 and issued a warning that any further misconduct will result in more severe sanctions.
This is not the first time this season the veteran coach has had a brush with the GFA regulations.
Just after Matchday 1, Bashir Hayford was charged for misconduct after a late goal by Aduana FC saw the former champions draw against his side at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa.
