A first-half strike by Ramzy Yussif gave Hearts of Oak a vital win over Legon Cities in the Ghana Premier League.
The local derby at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium was the opening Matchday 16 game this season.
Despite Legon Cities kicking off the game, it was Hearts who broke the deadlock a couple of minutes to the break with Ramzy dribbling past his markers to slot home.
With three points in the bag, Hearts of Oak move up to second on the log, just two points behind leaders Heart of Lions, who will travel to Bechem to face Bechem United on Sunday.
Legon Cities drop deeper in the relegation zone with Friday’s loss.
They will welcome fellow strugglers Dreams FC to the same venue on Matchday 17.
There will be one more Week 16 match on Saturday, January 4 between FC Samartex 1996 and Berekum Chelsea before the rest of the matches are played on Sunday.
