Swiss coach Nora Häuptle has been officially announced as Head Coach of Zambia’s female national team.

This ends reports about the Black Queens coach failing to extend her contract with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

On Saturday, January 4, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) announced that Nora has been appointed on a three-year contract.

“We are excited to announce the appointment of Nora Hauptle as the new Zambia Women National Team coach,” said a statement signed by FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga.

”We have every reason to believe that she has the pedigree and profile that will take us to the next level,” Kamanga further stated.

She is expected to consolidate the gains made in women’s football in Zambia with the current African Best Women’s Footballer, Barbra Banda, the Captain of the Copper Queens.

“Her duty is to consolidate on the gains made in our women’s game in the last few years that has seen us win bronze at the WAFCON, qualify to a maiden FIFA World Cup in 2023 and back-to-back Olympic qualifications.”

Häuptle’s major assignment will be leading the Copper Queens to the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) to be held in July in Morocco.

Zambia will play in Group A against the hosts, Senegal and DR Congo.

The official announcement leaves the Black Queens, who booked a return to the tournament with Häuptle, without a coach.

Ghana are billed to play South Africa, Mali and Tanzania on in Group C.
