The board of Ghana Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak has responded to allegations made by dismissed coach Martin Koopman.

In a no-holds-barred interview with Ghanasportspage.com over the weekend, the Dutch trainer made damning allegations about the board and management, accusing members of selecting players for him.

“There are seven players they told me not to use in the competition. It was a day before our opening game,” he said.

“They named three players but they later changed it to seven players (Annan, Korsah, Esso, Albert Eonde, Salifu, Seidu, and Attah). They told me not to use them because they don’t believe them and they cannot help me in the competition,” Koopman added.

But in a press conference on Monday, December 4, board member Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe described the accusations in the media as “distasteful”.

He explained that usual technical meetings are held with the technical team and representatives of the supporters by the club.

“We believe strongly that cooperation is the best thing that can give you good results, that is why we have regular meetings with the technical team,” he explained.

He, therefore, said he finds it “baffling” that the dismissed coach will shift blame onto the board when he played a key role in the restructuring of the team.

The former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President revealed how the club got some players prior to the arrival of Koopman, who rejected them all, leading to them not being registered.

“He told us that those boys will bot be part of his team, so if today he is blaming the board for the team’s poor performance, then he is not being truthful to the facts.”
