Ghana Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak have decided to adopt the University of Ghana Sports Stadium as their home grounds.

This follows the temporary closure of the Accra Sports Stadium by the National Sports Authority (NSA) for renovation works.

“The Legon Stadium will remain our home venue for the 2024-2025 football season until the Accra Sports Stadium or our alternative venue is ready for usage,” management said in a statement on Wednesday, September 18.

The Phobians, who are without a point in two games, were scheduled to host Bechem United at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 22.

The statement announced that that Matchday 3 game will now be played at 6:00pm on the scheduled day.

”As we go into the weekend’s encounter, we use this opportunity to urge all Phobians to continue to offer their support to the team so collectively our efforts will yield the desired success.”

Meanwhile, Accra Lions have also decided to use the University of Ghana Sports Stadium as their home venue.

The Accra-based club had initially opted for the Sogakope Stadium but decided to also use the Legon stadium for their Ghana Premier League matches.

The two clubs will, as a result, join Legon Cities FC as Ghana Premier League clubs to play their home matches at the Legon stadium.
