A heavy downpour swept across large parts of Accra in the early hours of Sunday, beginning around 3:30am and continuing into the morning, in line with earlier forecasts by the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet).
Low-lying communities in the Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Central regions were among the hardest hit, with widespread reports of waterlogging and localized flooding.
Affected areas include Nima, Weija, Kasoa, Kaneshie, Accra Central, Circle, Dansoman, and Mallam Junction, where residents reported flooded streets and difficulty moving around.

As of the time of this report, the rains had come down with several flooded areas easing off, although no official reports of casualties or major property damage had been recorded.
