Some grassroots executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Volta Region have declared their firm and unflinching support for Dr. Bryan Acheampong, describing him as the right man to lead the party into the 2028 general elections and beyond.

This was contained in a press statement delivered in Ho, on Thursday, 26th June, 2025 by the group known as the Concerned NPP Grassroots Executives of the Volta Region.

The statement, which was signed by polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, and constituency executives in the region and read by Thelma Christiabel Adzimah, Ho Central Constituency Women Organizer, described Dr. Bryan Acheampong as a unifier and a leader who listens to the party’s grassroots.

The group is believed to have a total membership of close to 300 executives with voting rights.

According to them, the Abetifi MP has demonstrated his commitment through various initiatives including borehole construction, farm input support, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment projects for communities.

The group admonished all presidential hopefuls and party leadership not to neglect the grassroots, emphasizing that the success of the NPP rests on polling station executives and foot soldiers at the community level.

They further called for a free, fair, and transparent internal electioneering process and urged all stakeholders to put party unity above personal ambition.

Addressing tensions within the party, the group noted that only Dr. Bryan Acheampong has the capacity to calm internal frictions and unify the party post 2026 primaries.

So far, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s presidential candidate for the 2024 election and a host of others, including former Assin South Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, who is a former Minister for Education have all declared their intentions to contest the NPP’s presidential primary slated for January, 2026 as the party works towards the 2028 general elections.
