The Minority in Parliament is questioning the essence of the government’s resetting agenda following a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth projection of 4%.

According to the caucus, the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration bequeathed a growth rate of 5.7% as announced by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) on Monday, March 10, 2025.

But the Minority has raised questions over an economy set for a reset with a growth projection less than what was attained by the erstwhile administration they described as criminally managed.

Addressing the press after the presentation of the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of the government Tuesday, March 11, 2025, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam Antah, the Member of Parliament for Karaga and former Minister of Finance, wondered how the government could term its projection as one meant to reset the economy compared to the previous growth rate.

“The reality is that, as of the end of last year 2024, growth rate –real GDP growth– was 5.7% and this was released just yesterday, by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) confirmed by the Minister today.

“We took over from the NDC in 2016 [2017] with a growth rate of 3.4% against 5.7% and if you come to the projection for 2025, an economy that was broken, recording 5.7% and a reset economy as we are being told, how can we say that this reset economy will be better than the economy that President Mahama said was criminally mismanaged?” he quizzed.
