Ghanaian artiste, Krymi has expressed his dissatisfaction with persons touted as gatekeepers in the music industry.
According to him, gatekeepers have no right to control access to the industry because they did not give the talent, God did.
Speaking on Onua 95.1 FM’s GH Highlife Show with Ohemaa Acheampomaa on January 20, the singer expressed his disappointment in industry players for gatekeeping talents and gifts they did not provide.
“I don’t like people who are called ‘gatekeepers.’ I don’t like them because the industry doesn’t belong to them; it belongs to the musicians. So do not gatekeep a talent or a gift you didn’t give, the only person that can gatekeep is God. And so I don’t like those people,” he shared his frustration.
Krymi, after expressing frustration about the existence of gatekeepers, however acknowledged the reality of the situation.
He further indicated that success in the industry, is not solely about talent but also about understanding the business side of music, building a strong team, effective branding, and producing quality music.
“But unfortunately, there’s a system and these people are there, hence, why you need to find a way and play along the system. So, whether you will succeed or not, depends on putting your things together, in terms of your team understanding the business aspects of music, branding yourself well and doing good music,” he concluded.
Krymi is out with a new song” Aso wodem”.
