Founder and Leader of the African Reform Movement (ARM) Dr. Nii Amu Darko, has said he doesn’t read much about Ghana’s President, Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The man who is seeking to contest for the highest office of the land in 2024 says he has chosen such stance on the President because “he has nothing to offer.”

Speaking on Onua TV/FM’s Maakye with Captain Smart Monday, February 13, 2023, the politician who doubles as a physician and philosopher with over 5,000 articles and 6 books said he doesn’t have the time to waste on a President who is virtually empty.

He says he doesn’t understand why Ghanaian leaders are living a funfair life whilst their creditors are not doing so.

“You’re organising a big party whilst the person you’re owing is not organising anything,” he said.

When asked if he was referring to the President who is celebrating his 30 years marriage anniversary, he responded “I don’t even read much about him because he has nothing to offer. Yes, I mean Nana Akufo-Addo. What am I going to read? What is there to read about Nana Akufo-Addo? He is [the President] but that doesn’t mean anything.”

Meanwhile, he bemoaned the absolute power the President wields from the constitution which he says should be shared with other parties rather than the winner takes all.

The author of the 5th Republic which talks about the Constitutional Reforms to Rescue, Resuscitate and Restore Ghana also said he will reduce the number of government appointees, including the ministers, deputies and regional ministers should he get the opportunity.

According to him, there should be laws specifying the number of ministers, regions, districts and constituencies the country should have, to avoid the incessant creation of offices and appointments to reduce the pressure on state coffers.
