Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has acknowledged the severe challenges Ghanaians have faced in recent years, noting that these difficulties have been global and have significantly impacted businesses and families, particularly the most vulnerable members of society.
Presenting the Mid-Year Fiscal Policy in Parliament on Tuesday, July 23, Dr. Amin Adam expressed concern over these hardships, which have led many young people to seek employment opportunities beyond what the state can provide.
He extended his sympathies to the Ghanaian people and emphasized that the government is working tirelessly to address these issues and improve the economic situation for all citizens.
“Mr. Speaker, the last two years have been extremely challenging globally, and Ghana has not been an exception. The difficult economic environment has truly affected businesses and families, particularly the vulnerable in our society,” he stated.
“These challenges have severely affected households, increased the cost of living, and limited the creation of job opportunities. Our young people continue to seek employment opportunities beyond what the State can provide. It has, indeed, Mr. Speaker, been a difficult time, and I empathize with all our fellow Ghanaians,” he said.
Dr. Amin Adam also highlighted the government’s decisive measures to realign the country’s economic trajectory, asserting that the implemented policies are beginning to yield the desired results.
“Mr. Speaker, over the last two years, the government has embarked on a number of decisive measures to get us back on the path of fiscal consolidation, economic stability, and growth. I am happy to note that these policies we have implemented are yielding the expected results,” he added.
