Former Minister of Education and Energy under the erstwhile Nana Akufo-Addo administration, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has praised the significant advancements in Ghana’s education sector under the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) government.

He highlighted the transformative initiatives introduced since 2017.

In a statement on his Facebook page on Wednesday, May 20,2026, Dr Prempeh stated, “One of the key highlights for me at this year’s EWF was engaging with the delegation from Ghana’s Ministry of Education, led by the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu.

It is refreshing to see that many of the key reforms, commitments, and strategic priorities the NPP government initiated at the Ministry continue to receive sustained attention, particularly in the area of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), which remains a major focus of the current Minister.”

Dr Prempeh noted that, “Educational transformation is most impactful when it is sustained across administrations and strengthened through continuity, innovation, and a shared national vision.

I remain hopeful about the future of education in Ghana, and encouraged by the important role our country continues to play in shaping global conversations on education and development.”
