Mother of one-year-old world record holder for the Youngest Male Artist, Chantelle Eghan has opened up about what motivated her to file a world record application for her son.

In an exclusive interview with 3News, Chantelle recounted that upon hearing the news about Nigeria’s Hilda Baci’s world record achievement, she decided to emulate Hilda’s achievement for her son.

Knowing very well how talented and gifted Ace Liam, her son is, Chantelle was confident and believed Liam would make her a proud mother.

According to her, Hilda Baci’s record got her curious leading her to surf the website of the Guinness Word Record until she came across the category for Youngest Male Artist record which was held by a 3-year-old.

“When Hilda Baci got her approval, out of curiosity, I went to the Guinness World Record (GWR) website to check out what was going on there, the kind of people who held record and then I chanced upon a record that says youngest artist and it was held by a three-year-old for 21 years,” she narrated.

After being convinced about Ace Liam’s paint works and talent, Chantelle took a shot at the Guinness World Record and filed to attempt the record of the youngest male artist on June 16, 2023.

At the time Ace Liam was only ten months old and has been painting since he was five months old.

“Out of curiosity for Hilda’s world record achievement, I went on the website and applied for my son,” Chantelle stressed.

Chantelled said she identifies Liam as an expressionist artist whose works cannot be controlled because he only expresses his thoughts and emotions through his works.

As part of the demands by the Guinness World Record (GWR) for application, Ace Liam was required to have been part of a professional painting exhibition and must have exhibited his works to be purchased.

Her mother, Chantelle Eghan explained that this part was the “daunting task” for her as she had to comply with rules from the GWR and the organisers of the exhibition.

Did Ace Liam inherit his talent from her mother?

Ace Liam’s achievement could somehow be ‘unsurprising’ as he comes from a family of artists. But Chantelle, her mother believes Ace is exceedingly talented and gifted.

Her assertion stems from Ace’s first-ever shot at painting. She said she was amazed and could not fathom her son’s intuitiveness on how he blended the colours for his work.

Ace Liam’s works

She said at 8 months old, Ace was almost good with exploring colours for his painting works.

“Being an artist who comes from the family of artists as well, I can assume that he inherited the arts dream.  But at the same time Liam is gifted, since the first time he encountered painting, even the first creation he did, the way he blended the colours, for me I thought he was just trying to catch the colours and spread it but that was his first exposure to painting and his curiosity allowed him to just spread it all over.

“He didn’t paint when he was seven months, I just allowed him some time off and then his eight month he just rekindled…I feel he is actually gifted in arts,” Chantelle explained.

Future plans for Liam

Chantelle Eghan said she is open to any partnership and collaboration with private persons and organisations willing to associate their brand with Ace Liam.

Fortunately for Liam, her mother is also a professional artist with 8 years’ experience. She’s dedicated to nurture and guide Liam to develop his talent and establish himself to be recognised internationally.

Chantelle stressed that despite Liam’s talent in painting, she will encourage Liam to explore other fields he finds interest in future.
