Background
On November 2, 2024, a high-profile daylight robbery occurred at a jewelry shop in Adabraka, Accra.

A gang of heavily armed and masked men attacked a vehicle transporting cash from a gold transaction, stealing an estimated GH₵7.5 million.

About four to five masked men used a silver vehicle to intercept a red Toyota Corolla near the Adabraka Market.

The robbers fired multiple shots into the air to disperse crowds and scattered some cash to create a diversion during their escape.

The driver of the targeted vehicle sustained injuries during the attack.

On January 7, 2026, the Ghana Police Service arrested two additional suspects, Hamza Agerego (alias Nene Bawku) and Alhassan Elliasu (alias Arab Man), at their hideouts in Ashaiman.

During the latest arrests, police recovered a cache of weapons, including two pump-action guns, AK-47 ammunition, bulletproof vests, face masks, and a CCTV monitor.

A key suspect, Salim Mohammed (alias Fariwata or Bawasam), was apprehended in late 2025 at a hospital in Ashaiman where he was seeking medical treatment.
