Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s aide, Dennis Edward Aboagye, popularly known as ‘Miracles’, has taken a tour to several ghetto communities in Accra to express gratitdue to residents for their support during his recent arrest and detention by EOCO.
He says he was overwhelmed by the support from the people he had never personally met, sparking his decision to personally visit their homes and thank them.
Miracles was arrested by officers of the Ghana Immigration Service at the Accra International Airport on Saturday, July 11, 2026, upon his return from a trip abroad. He was subsequently handed over to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) the following morning for investigations.
Leadership of the NPP expressed dissatisfaction with the arrest, asking party supporters to throng the EOCO headquarters on Monday, July 13, to demand his release.
Speaking during a visit to one of the communities on Saturday, July 18, 2026, Miracles said their support meant a lot to him.
“I came to thank all of you. I saw the love and support you showed me when I came out. Most of you, I had never met before, but your support meant a lot,” he said.
He assured the residents that their support would not be forgotten, describing them as family.
“If not for you, I may still have been in custody. After today, we are family. I will never forget you,” he added.
Miracles, who previously served as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation, is under investigation by EOCO over alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities involving approximately GH¢55 million.
The allegations are linked to activities during his tenure in office. However, Miracles has consistently denied any wrongdoing, maintaining that all actions undertaken during his time in office were lawful and in line with established procedures.
Following his arrest and interrogation by EOCO, he was granted bail in the sum of GH¢50 million with three sureties.
Investigations into the matter remain ongoing as EOCO seeks to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged financial and procurement breaches.
