Christian Kwabena Andrews, also known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, has promised to relocate Ghana’s capital from Greater Accra to the Western region should he win the December 2024 election.

Speaking in an interview with Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, the host of Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show, the flag bearer of the Ghana Union Movement indicated that the Western region is blessed with numerous natural resources but current leaders of the country have refused to put them to good use.

He indicates that Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah left behind many factories in the Western region but all have been left to rot due to bad leaderships the country has experienced over the years.

“Look at all the factories left behind by Kwame Nkrumah in the Western region, all of them have been left to rot but that should not be the case. All leaders we have had over the years were unable to maintain these factories, all of them have been left to rot. We can create employment from these factories if we resurrect them,” he said.

According to him, the oil industry in the Western region will be managed by Ghanaians and not foreigners as it is now.

“There is oil, gold, rubber, and many natural resources in the Western region but we are still suffering because everything is in the hands of foreigners. We shall train Ghanaians to manage those resources so that we will create more employment and keep the money here, and that is why GUM will make the Western region Ghana’s capital”, he averred.

He also said he will be nominating his running mate for the 2024 election from the Western region. “We shall appoint my running mate from the Western region and we need a female. We shall also pay for the forms of all individuals who want to be parliamentary candidates for GUM,” he added.

He also indicated among other things that a GUM government will ensure free ports to eliminate the huge import duties and allow businesses to grow.

Osofo Kyiri Abosom is also promising a monthly stipend for all Ghanaians sixty years and above whilst language translators will be trained to work at the airport to ensure the Ghanaian language is properly translated for all foreigners visiting the country.
