Godwin Aboagye, lawyer for the second accused, Thomas Zigah in the murder of the Immigration Officer, Stephen King Amoah has condemned the attack against him outside the court premises.
Enraged family members of the murdered Immigration Officer after proceedings on Thursday, August 22, 2025 hooted and threatened to assault lawyers of the second accused as they left the Adabraka District court.
Godwin Aboagye was escorted by police officers to his vehicle amidst yelling and attempted attacks from family members.
Speaking in an interview on 3FM’s Hot Edition, Thursday, August 22, 2025, Godwin Aboagye expressed shock at the actions of the saddened family members.
He noted that the attack has left two of his colleagues traumatised including an intern.
“I just can’t believe what I experienced today just for doing my job. I wasn’t alone, I was with one intern of mine and another colleague lawyer. As I speak, some of my people are traumatized and we have not committed this crime, we were just doing our job.
“Legal representation is not one that can be dispensed with. In fact, if I withdraw right now and he gets no other representation, there will be no trial,” he stated.
He called on the family members to exercise patience and allow the court processes to carry on for justice to be served.
“I am begging the family, I saw a lot of the posters and inscriptions that justice for the deceased but justice will mean that they have to cooperate with all of us,” he explained.
On his next line of action, he stressed that a meeting will be held to determine their next line of action which will consider an option of withdrawing legal representation for the second accused.
“At the moment we are going to meet and decide and all options will be put on the table including withdrawing representation,” he said.
However, he cautioned of the dire consequences if they withdraw their legal representation, urging the family to avoid attacks against the lawyers.
“But they know that if we withdraw representation, they will not even get the justice they want. But if the justice they seek lies with the court, then whatever they are doing will rather impede the justice,” he added.
A second suspect, identified as Thomas Zigah, also known as Nii Jaase, has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah.
Zigah was arraigned before the Adabraka District Court on Friday, August 22, 2025, adding a new dimension to a case that has drawn widespread public attention.
The prime suspect, Bright Aweh, believed to have been the last person Amoah contacted before his disappearance, had already been remanded into police custody.
Aweh first appeared before the same court on Friday, August 8, where the judge ordered a two-week remand to allow for further investigation.
