Black Stars striker Iñaki Williams has opened his account for his club Athletic Club in the 2024/25 Spanish La Liga.
After coming on to replace Alvaro Djalo in the second half at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque on Thursday night, the Ghanaian’s left-footed touch inside the penalty area was enough to cement a vital 2-0 away win for Ernesto Valverde’s side.
Both goals for the Copa del Rey champions came in the second half, the first scored by Dani Vivian in the 65th minute and Iñaki’s exactly 10 minutes later.
The striker’s goal comes barely a week after getting a hat trick of assists for his side.
He scored a total of 12 goals, the second highest in a season, for Bilbao in the 2023/24 La Liga.
The Matchday 6 win takes Athletic Club to 5th with 10 points on the log while Leganés are 15th with 5 points in the 20-club La Liga.
The Basque Country side will host Celta Vigo in their next encounter on Sunday, September 22.
