Black Stars striker Iñaki Williams has announced his international retirement at age 32.
In a post on X on Friday, September 11, the Athletic Club captain noted that he leaves “happy, proud and with the peace of mind of knowing I gave everything every time I wore the shirt”.
He admitted that Ghana gave him more than football.
“It has allowed me to come back home, feel even closer to my roots and experience the enormous pride of representing my country and wearing this flag on my chest.”
He stated that Ghana will still be part of him and he will continue to support the Black Stars wherever he is.
Inaki Williams was part of the Black Stars squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, his global competition second for the nation.
He started the Round of 32 defeat to Colombia in Kansas City.
He scored two goals in his 28 appearances for the Black Stars.
He had represented world champions Spain once in a friendly match before switching nationality to play for Ghana.
