Black Stars Head Coach Carlos Queiroz has hinted at resigning from his role only if one condition is met.
“If you believe that with the coach resigning, you can change the situation of football in Ghana, I’ll be the first one to resign,” he told a journalist who called for his resignation.
It was at the post-match press conference of the Black Stars’ 2-4 loss to The Gambia in qualifiers to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Ghana had taken a two-goal lead but allowed the Scorpions to come back to level before the break.
The Gambians came into the second half to score two more goals to consign the four-time African champions to bottom of Group C of the qualifiers.
Pressure is now on the Portuguese, who was hired just before the 2026 FIFA World Cup after the dismissal of Otto Addo a few days to the tournament.
For Queiroz, aside his condition, a decision by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) could also see him leave.
“I don’t have that belief. But that is a decision of the board of the Federation,” he said in answering the question on resignation.
Ghana have a doubleheader against Somalia in November before playing The Gambia in Banjul and Cote d’Ivoire in Accra next year to wrap up the qualifiers.
